The South Dakota Prairie Rose Community Fund announces their 2021 Community Fund Awards and Scholarship Recipients

The South Dakota Prairie Rose Community Fund has been in existence since 2014 and has granted a total of $316,400 in community enhancement grants/scholarships. Funding for the fund is provided by Prairie Rose Wind LLC owner of Prairie Rose Wind Farm and subsidiary of Enel Green Power North America.

“It is truly a joy for the Board to provide these funds to our communities for education, community enhancement and safety,” said Board President Steven Munk.

2021 Community Grant Recipients are:

Logan Township, $1416 for road grader maintenance tools and 55 gallon barrel cart

Dell Rapids Public School, $2500 towards the installation of four basketball hoops for the middle school playground area

Dell Rapids Fire department, $5400 towards the purchase a flatbed box to hold firefighting equipment on the wildland fire truck

Brandon Township, $2200 towards the purchase of a car trailer for the transportation of road signs, post sandbags and related signage supplies

Brandon Valley Band Parents, $2000 towards the purchase of 100 deluxe music folders for the Concert Band

Mighty Corson Players, $1400 to support the summer kids camp

Edison Township, $1800 laptop, disc reader and printer

Garretson Ambulance, $1500 for an oxygen bottle holder and Technimount for the Garretson Ambulance

Garretson Fire Department, $3400 towards the purchase of 3 sets of safety bunker gear suits

Garretson Public School, $2500 for a high definition recording and broadcasting system

Garretson Childcare Corporation, $3500 for a shed to house outside activity toys and strollers

Blue Dragon Foundation, $3000 towards the cost of relocating irrigation sprinkler heads and liming baselines at the Garretson Baseball Field

Grow Garretson, $4000 towards building a shade shelter at Split Rock Park

Scholarships:

The following individuals each reached a $1000 scholarship that will be used for the 2022 spring semester: Jake Schroeder, James Nussbaum, Mattea Fiegen, Brady Malsom, Evan Bly, Dominic Abraham, Kennedy Houghton, Rave Uhlich, all from Garretson School District
