Three thoughtful boys, Brecken Weir, Jakob Gnadt, and Levi Top made Sebastian Deyoung’s Christmas even better this year. Together they pitched in money to buy Sebastian a new bike and reflective vest to keep him safe from cars while riding his new bike around town.
Why would teenage boys go this far out of their way to help a classmate in need? These three boys all have big hearts and rather than waiting for someone else to do something, they took action themselves.
Top explained that what Deyoung was using was not in good condition.
"Sebastian’s old bike was missing a pedal, and the brakes were shot,” he said.
Seeing Deyoung braking with his feet on the street and ruining his shoes pressured them even more to do something.
Gnadt stated, “Sebastian rides his bike often, and most times it is dark outside. We hope the reflective vest will help cars see him better.”
The boys got Sebastian a red and black, 26” Shocker Mountain Hyper bicycle. Knowing that Sebastian rides his bike a lot, they put the thought into getting one that will last him.
Giving the present brought a lot of joy to both the three boys and Deyoung, although it was difficult to surprise him with the gift over the break.
They were finally able to get him out to the ag barn to surprise him with his gift. At first, Deyoung didn’t believe it was his. Then he immediately took it for a test ride and showed his excitement.
Deyoung exclaimed, “The bike was my favorite gift I got for Christmas!” He was extremely thankful for the bike and vest as well as the thoughtfulness of his classmates.
This kind gesture shows that our community takes care of each other. It also projects the idea that this new generation is going to make this world a great place.
