The 1959 Class Reunion

Date:

Sixty years goes fast when you are having fun! That was how the class of 1959 felt as they gathered at their reunion this past Jesse James Days. The day started off with the members riding in the parade, with Rex and Routie pulling the Kringen wagon driven by Grant Kringen.

The class was very grateful to Gregg Kringen for making this happen. They were on their own for dinner after which several visited the museum, seeing a lot of Garretson memories. Gathering later at the River Ridge Golf Course Clubhouse, the class members and their spouses got caught up on what they had been doing since the last gathering. They realized they had a 10th, 25th, 40th, 50th and now their 60th reunions. In between, several had gone to 5 All-Class reunions and the girls’ gathering in Sioux Falls for special birthday years. When the members came they were given a jean pocket with their graduation picture on it . The pocket was filled with items from the Commercial Club and information about the parks and the city of Garretson. They thank the Commercial Club, Kris Frerk, Judy Hanson and Mary Ann Carlson for obtaining this for them.

Before eating, Sharon Kringen welcomed the 16 class members and their spouses and read a poem, "If You Were Born Before 1945." Gladys Ambroson read the poem "How Glad We Will Be when we are 80." She handed out some prizes, for example who came from a the longest distance-Cindy Yates. Who had a January 1941 birthday, Harriet Lerdal. Who had the most great grandkids who was at the reunion, Gene Engelbretson. Lamoyne Pederson was presented with an invitation to the 65th in 2024-God willing.

The delicious supper was served by Tony's Catering, after which cupcakes with school colors made by Yvonne Larson concluded the meal hour. Those attending from a distance were Harriet Lerdal, Cindy Yates, Gary Mitchell, Kay McDonald, Dorothy Larson and Dale Busch. So long, until we meet again! God willing!
