Tandberg Field receives upgrade

Date:

On Saturday, Tandberg Baseball Field received a significant upgrade when a new sign was placed at the northwest corner of the field. This has been a need and a work in progress for many years, and it finally came to fruition.

The Garretson Blue Dragon Foundation recently received a $10,000 grant from Prairie Rose to help complete funding for the project. At that time, Jerry Scholl, who received the grant on behalf of the Foundation, said the previous sign had been malfunctioning for 25 years.

The new sign came from Daktronics, and invokes an old-school baseball flavor, with arched text in a bold font. The Legion, the Garretson BlueJays, and the Garretson Blue Dragon logos figure prominently on the board.

While it was not yet in use at Monday's game against Sioux Falls Christian, it is another point of pride for a popular past-time in Garretson and will be of great service for many years to come. A big thank you to the many volunteers who put forth their time and efforts to ensure Tandberg Field can host high-quality baseball games.
