The Garretson School District announced the hiring of a new Middle School/High School principal, the MS/HS spring play is this Sunday, the Jesse James Golf Invite was held last week with three athletes placing well, and in county-wide news, the Minnehaha County Commission considers a countywide moratorium on CO2 pipelines. Plus, it's Teacher Appreciation Week, and the Blue Ink shows its appreciation for Teacher of the Year Darcy McGee!

Tragedy struck a local family this past weekend, and we mourn with the family and community, who have surrounded them with love and support during this difficult time. In other stories, the most recent city council meeting was almost all financial, the school board begins to look towards scheduling for next year, and varsity golf has gotten off to its seasonal start.

The votes are in, and the Ward 3 city council seat will be awarded to Jackie Rotert, who received 36 of 56 total votes. Two long-time Garretson Middle School teachers will be retiring at the end of this year, the Minnehaha County Commission voted to send a letter to the South Dakota PUC regarding their stance on the CO2 pipelines that are proposed, and track is off to a fine start this season, plus more!

News for 4-7-2022

Two candidates are in the running for next week Tuesday's Ward 3 City Council election, and we get their views on how they would serve their constituents. The election will be held from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and all registered voters in Ward 3 will be able to cast a vote. We also hear about the history of Devil's Gulch and Jesse James from both Owen Wiese and historian Wayne Fanebust, and learn about the 1969 track stars as the 2022 track season begins with the Jesse James invite this weekend.
