Street Project Re-starts with First Rate

It’s no secret that many citizens and downtown businesses have been frustrated with the downtown street project. Since the City terminated the contract of Haarsma Construction, the street restoration project has been in limbo as legal action was taken. Recently the bond company hired a new contractor to complete the project. First Rate Excavate has started work as of this Monday! The Garretson Food Center was quick to put up this message of support.

Entrance into businesses will be preserved as much as possible during this project. Garretson Food Center has parking on 3rd Street, and all patrons are welcome to use both the front and back door for entry. Curbside service is still available, and orders can be picked up from the back door. Parking for the Post Office, Big Erns, and First Bank is on 4th Street. First Bank drive-thru can be accessed from 4th Street just to the east of the drive thru exit. Palisades Chiropractic patrons are welcome to park in the back and access the front door through the alley. We will continue to update you as we learn what other Main Ave businesses are doing for parking and entry, but all Main Street businesses (except Rainbow Delight, which is still closed due to the pandemic) are still open and operational!
