Randall Bakker retires after 20 years of delivering Garretson area mail (subscribers)

Date:

Bakker said that he came into the postal delivery service just as the post office was making big changes from the rural route system to the 911 address system.  He’s also gone through six delivery vehicles since then as well.

Garretson postmaster Deb Nelson presented Bakker with a certificate for his 20 years of service and a cake in celebration of his retirement.

“Randy is a great example of dedication,” she said. “A zero-accident record and a lot of knowledge and experience that we’ll be losing. A lot of people say that nothing important comes through the mail anymore, but it’s simply not true and Randy is a great example to others to show that what they do matters to real people. He will be missed.”

Bakker said that his top goal post retirement will be spending quality time with his grandkids.
