Pippa Got Home Safe Part 2

"I can't even begin to thank all the folks who were out looking. People were crawling under the culverts on Center Avenue, even the Sheriff was out with a spotlight."

Luckily, the search ended on a happy note the next morning. Unbeknownst to anyone, Pippa had gotten stuck on the railroad track, falling beneath the ties on the bridge north of town. Because posters had been printed and disseminated that morning by B-Squad Rescue, Conductor Fowler with BNSF Railroad knew to be on the lookout, and he spotted Pippa while pulling out of Garretson. Fowler stopped the train, disentangled her from the tracks, and headed to the Garretson Food Center. Owner Lori Luke knew who to contact right away, and reunited Pippa with her extended family.

Needless to say, Wollmann's brother was rather relieved. "He was saying he'd have to move if this dog wasn't found," said Wollmann with a laugh. "He knows my dogs have tapped into my nurturing side now that my kids are grown."

Wollmann says she cannot thank the people of the community enough. Even though she'll never know who was all out that night, she wants everyone to know how grateful she is. "This does show that the community can really pull together," she said. She fully intends to keep paying it forward, and will always go out and search for anyone else's lost pets.

Wollmann also expresses her deep appreciation for B-Squad Rescue. "Their posters were a big reason why Pippa was found, and they were so proactive."
