At Zion’s ice cream social, have a chat with Pastor Gary about his European Pilgrimage

Zion Lutheran Church will be hosting an Ice Cream Social on Wednesday, July 17th. The social meal will be barbeques, an assortment of salads, chips, desserts and ice cream that will be served from 5:00 – 7:00. After the meal in the sanctuary there will be a presentation from a Zion Lutheran former/retired pastor, Gary Van Hunnik, on his pilgrimage in Europe.

The Camino de Santiago (The Way of St. James) is a centuries-old Christian pilgrimage path through France and Spain which thousands of pilgrims a year come from all over the world to walk. Pastor Gary has walked the 500-mile path a couple of times, and with pictures and conversation, he will talk about the Camino and his experiences on the journey.

“After hearing of his experiences a year ago, I felt that his journey of self-discovery and reflection needed to be shared,” said Marcia Gnadt, Zion Lutheran member and speaker organizer.

Zion is inviting the whole community to not only the Ice Cream Social but also to greet Gary, and to hear and see about his religious pilgrimage. Come to the social and stay for the presentation.
