This weekend, take in a show within a show! The Garretson High School One Act, "The Great American Talent Show," will be performed in the old gym at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday.

"The show follows a series of performers on the final night of competition," said Head Coach Erika Brown. "Three playful judges offer critiques and praises for the contestants throughout their performances. As competition continues, we grow closer to knowing who will be crowned the grand prize winner of The Great American Talent Show. Will it be the singer, the comic, makeover artist, impressionist, model, or the one-man band? The competition is fierce and makes for a very entertaining series of events."

A talented cast of fifteen actors will be bringing the comedic act by Joseph Robinette to the regional stage next Tuesday in Canton. Brown, along with assistant director Kim Macziewski, is working on developing the students' strengths.

"We have been working on developing strong characters, growing in expression, and stepping out of our comfort zone," Brown said.

Not only will the competition within the show be fierce, but the competition on the stage will be, as well. After Sunday's performance, the show will hit the road.

"We are part of Region 2A which competes in Canton on January 23rd, 2024 at the Canton Performing Arts Center," Brown noted. "There are 5 other schools in our region (Sioux Falls Christian, Canton, West Central, Lennox, and Tea Area). We compete at 2:15PM on the 23rd. The top 2 schools will advance to the state festival at Brandon, February 1st-3rd."

Come see the show on Sunday, and cheer on the contestants as they vie for the top slot!
