Obituary: Wendy L. Pierret, age 46

Wendy Pierret

Wendy L. Pierret, age 46, of Garretson, passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at Ava’s House in Sioux Falls after an 18-year battle with multiple sclerosis. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 AM Thursday, November 10, 2022, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Garretson. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 PM Wednesday, November 9, at the Minnehaha Funeral Home in Garretson, with a Prayer Service and Rosary beginning at 7:00 PM.

Wendy was born on August 29, 1976, in Sioux Falls, to Donald and Linda (Whaley) Pierret and grew up on the family farm northwest of Garretson. She attended Garretson Schools and graduated in 1995. In high school she was valedictorian, homecoming queen, and National Honors Society president. She then attended the University of Sioux Falls. She worked at Dragonland Daycare in Garretson, and waitressed at Marlin’s, Flying J, and Tailgaters. Wendy attended St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Garretson throughout her life.

Wendy was a bright, happy, and kind person. Even through the challenges of MS, she was always thinking about other people and how she could help them. She loved attending concerts with her friends and listening to Pink. But most of all, she loved spending time with her son Elijah.

Survivors include her son, Elijah (Lila) Pierret, Garretson; mother, Linda Pierret, Garretson; siblings: Wayne (Kim) Pierret, Sherman, and Heidi (Andy) Alban, Pierre; nieces and nephews: Colby (Jessica) Pierret, Hayden Pierret, Morgan Pierret, Clayton Alban, and Nolan Alban; a great nephew, Colson Pierret; several cousins, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Donald, and a special relative, Nichole Anderson.
