Native plant restoration happening in our parks

            The Garretson Park Advisory Committee (GPAC) was established in 2017 as a mayor-appointed volunteer position to recommend enhanced beautification projects throughout our parks to the Garretson’s city council. With their approval and countless volunteer hours from GPAC, the projects began. Since then, many have become a reality for everyone to enjoy.

            Past projects (not all are listed) include having the Sioux Quartzite primary & secondary outcroppings in Devils Gulch and Split Rock Park cleared of overgrowth vegetation, new information signs, native plantings around the cabin information center, bathhouse information center, new entrance signs to the parks, new picnic shelter, new foot crossing bridge, additional playground equipment at the Jaycees Softball Complex playground, tree removal and replanting, vault toilets updated, and memorial benches placed.
