Moving Day for Blue Dragon Academy Coming Soon

Date:

by Kris Frerk, BDA Board

The Blue Dragon Academy moving day is approaching in the near future. The walls are currently being painted. After that comes flooring, suspended ceiling, cabinets. plumbing fixtures, leveling of the parking lot, and cement sidewalk.

The staff is in the process of packing up what they can. We are throwing away stuff that is damaged or outdated. Our dream is to move in Memorial Day Weekend, but if that doesn't work it will be shortly after that. We need to have building inspections and a final inspection by the daycare license department to make sure everything passes their standards.

We are looking for volunteer help from the public to help us move. We are hoping to have 10 volunteers for each room. They will be assigned a class- room. They will load fixtures in that room and transport them to the new site. BDA staff will be at the new site to instruct where to set it, and they will unload and organize the room. If you are willing to help, please contact Heidi Fink 360-2755 or Kris Frerk 321- 1814. We will keep the public updated as we get closer.

We have been approached by Sharon Kringen with a public challenge to supply the daycare with some of the items they would like to have, but right now need to focus their budget on construction costs. Sharon has been a long- time supporter of reading and the love for young children. Sharon is donating books for the daycare and $500 to be used for book shelves in memory of her mother, Doris Plahn.

Sharon wanted to challenge the public and alumni to get involved. If you are willing to provide funds for some items on the wish list, please call Heidi Fink 360-2755 or Kris Frerk 321-1814. We have been keeping track of all monetary donations to the building fund and we will do the same for the Challenge. We will be posting a donation appreciation board inside the daycare.

The lowest tier to have your name or memorial listed is $500 and goes up in increments to $1000, $2500, $5000+, $10,000+, $15,000+, $20,000+, $30,000+.

Our current enrollment is 80 and with the new building it will be 103. We already have some children enrolled when the new building opens.

Some of the items on the wish list are: Kitchenaid Mixer $300, Commercial Can Opener $50, Reading Ready Center $370, Toddler Table & Chairs $400 (want 8), Combo Kitchen fridge $430, Tray Storage $220 (want 3), Dress up storage $340, 5 unit play kitchen $1000, Mobile Sensory Table $300, Learning mirror $200, Mini reading couches $330 (want 6), Gross Motor Area for 12-24 months $1,900, Block Play Area birth- 12 months $2,000; Non-mobile play area for infants $3,000, Deluxe Mud Kitchen for play- ground $600 (want 2), Mud Mixing table $300 (want 2), blinds $3,000, lighted sign $2500.
