Midwest Honor Flight flies with two Post 23 members

Date:

Eighty-two veterans participated in Mission 4 of the Midwest Honor Flight on May 7. Among those who were able to take part in this memorable day were Dale Schmiesing of Garretson and Harlowe Sundem of Brandon (formerly of Garretson). Dale and Harlowe are veterans of the Korean War.

Midwest Honor Flight was created to say thanks to veterans for their service. The day was devoted to visiting Washington, DC and the memorials built in in their honor. They were able to visit the Arlington National Cemetery with the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Additional sights included the World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War memorials; and Air Force, Navy and Iwo Jima memorials. Thank you, veterans! -submitted by Deb Sundem
