JV Girls Struggle to Score

            The JV girls matched up against Sioux Falls Christian on Tuesday January 17.  The Blue Dragons offense struggled to score, and the Chargers went up 23-5 points at the end of the first.  Garretson battled back in the second to match the scoring effort of SFC but the Chargers remained in the lead at the half 31-18.

            In second half action Garretson was unable to get the baskets to fall against an aggressive Charger defense and SFC went on to get the win 56 – 13.  Tayler Benson led the scoring effort with seven points.

            On Friday January 20, the Blue Dragons hosted the Tanengers from Vermillion.  Garretson again struggled to find the hoop and Vermillion went on a 9-0 run by the end of the first quarter. 

            The Blue Dragons battled back and were able to put a couple of buckets on the scoreboard by the end of the second but went into the half down 20-4.  The second half went in the favor of the Tanengers and the Blue Dragons were unable to get the shots to fall and lost 43-10.  Ava Ockenga and Jordan DeWitte each netted a three.

            The Blue Dragons were on the hardwood again on Monday January 23, against the Cardinals from Dell Rapids St. Mary.  Garretson once again battled with the net as buckets were not falling and the Blue Dragons were down 18-6 by the end of the first half.  The girls battled with the Cardinals in the second half with a few shots finding the net but were unable to match DRSM and the Cardinals got the win 40-15.  Jordan DeWitte led the Blue Dragons scoring with five ponts.  Brooklyn Trudeau and Lucie Frewaldt each scored three.
