On Tuesday December 14, the Blue Dragons played host to the Canton C-Hawks. Garretson had a slow first quarter with Canton outscoring them 10 – 4. The Blue Dragons worked their way back in the second and went into the half down 14 – 19. “Our offense struggled at the start, but the girls found some rhythm before the half,” commented Coach Howe. In second half action the offense was unable to continue the flow and Garretson lost to the C-Hawks 39 – 20. Leading scorer for the Blue Dragons was Adi Fink with twelve, Cortney Rogich added five and Maci Rotert chipped in three.
Garretson went on the road Tuesday December 21 to Dell Rapids to take on the Lady Quarriers. In first half action Garretson played their best offensive game outscoring Dell Rapids 26 – 8 going into the half. The Blue Dragons had a slow third quarter but rallied back in the fourth to get the victory 38 – 29. It was a team effort offensively with Addison Hove, Kylie Christensen and Adi Fink leading the way with eight points apiece. Tayler Benson and Cortney Rogich each added six and Ashley Harris two.
The Blue Dragons were on the road again Tuesday December 28 to Tri-Valley. Garretson struggled offensively the first half and the Mustangs went into half-time leading 19-5. The Blue Dragons came out in the third working hard to get back into the game, but the Mustangs held them off and went on to win 38 – 20. “Our offensive game struggled but I was proud of how the girls responded the second half.” The scoring effort was led by Tayler Benson and Adi Fink with six points each. Addison Hove and Ashley Harris added three points apiece.
Tuesday January 4 the Blue Dragons traveled to Dell Rapids St. Mary to take on the Cardinals. Garretson had a strong offensive showing the first half and were able to keep the Cardinals down going into the half leading 18 – 11. In second half action the offensive game for the Garretson went cold. The Cardinals were able to even the score 24-24 by the end of the third quarter but the Blue Dragons were able to go on to get the win 29 – 27. The offensive game was led by Tayler Benson with nine and Jordyn Williams five. Sydney Olson and Ashley Harris each added four.
