Letter to the Editor: Jesse James Players Discuss Future

Date:

Dear Editor:

I am sure that you all are wondering what has happened to the Jesse James Players, as you probably do know we have had a lot of damage in the theater from all the rain that came in. We have had to throw a lot of props away and not sure what we will do with the costumes that are left. The Sr. Citizen’s Center contacted insurance and it has taken a lot of work on the part of the insurance adjustors, but it sounds like they will cover a lot of the damage we have had.

I think it would be sad to let the theater go and not fix it up. I have talked to Fred Barker (some of you may remember him) and he is going to look the situation over and let me know what he thinks about fixing the upstairs up. Because I want all of your input after he assesses the damage, I think we should have a meeting.

The Sr. Citizens would also like to meet with us with a proposal. I am not sure what it is, but I look forward to working with them. As we know, they do not use the center more than once in a while, so maybe we can use the downstairs for a dinner theater. This is all just speculation on my part until we meet with them.

Julie and Markell Gnadt have been so kind as to offer their new deck at 901 2nd Street for a special meeting on Wednesday, August 21st at 6:30 pm for those who are interested in being a part of the Jesse James Players. We will order munchies from GFC, so bring your own drinks. We are hoping to have a good turnout for this meeting. We will also be discussing plans for fall, possibly the Spooky Trail again!! If you know of anyone else who would like to be a member of our group, please invite them. In case of bad weather we could meet at Zion.

If you would like to become a member of the Jesse James Players, please contact Marcia Gnadt at (605) 321-3758.
