Jesse James Invite, huge turnout for the first track meet of the year!

Date:

Garretson hosted their first track meet of the year, the Jesse James Invitational, on April 9. It was the largest crowd the Garretson Sports Complex had seen in years, with more than 900 students participating from 14 school districts. The weather was sunny, though cool and windy.

1969 track honorees
On Saturday, the Garretson School District honored several athletes from the 1969 track season. The mile-relay team, which consisted of seniors Arlon Gill and Randy Swenson, junior Dan Hanson, and sophomore Rich Holzapfel, placed first at the state track meet that year. Bob Garry took home the silver in the 200-yard dash, and the 880 relay team of Royce Quamen, Hanson, Holzapfel, and Garry placed second.
