Jesse James 4H Club excelled this year at the Moody County Achievement Days as they “Move Forward to a Brighter Future”! Display exhibits were judged and club booths set up on the Tuesday evening to start off the fair. Livestock and animals were paraded onto the fairgrounds two by two on Wednesday morning and Club members Blair and Drew Ellefson participated in the Cat Show and Poultry Show.  That evening all the Moody County Clubs and many Community members entered floats for the Parade where the candy was abundantly shared to parade viewers.

At the crack of dawn, Jenna and Ty Van Holland were washing their cows in preparation for the Dairy Show.  Soon after Logan Bly participated in the Goat Show. There were fun activities for 4H members and families after show events and in to the evening such as band music, peddle tractor pulling, pork loin feed and community movie.

The last day of our Achievement Days found more early risers, this time washing pigs.  Jenna and Ty Van-Holland, Blair and Lane Ellefson and Evan and Logan Bly successfully showed their pigs in the swine show. Following the swine, the Clover buds brought their pets into the ring to share, Drew Ellefson led her calf.  Later that Saturday morning Lane and Blair Ellefson showed in the Beef show.

Earlier in the summer Wyatt Potter showed his dog at the Dog Show and Lane and Blair Ellefson competed in the Horse show. These events were held in Lake County at Madison. Fashion Review and Special Foods Contests were also held separate from the Achievement days.

To wrap up the 2021 Moody County Achievement Days, all members who received a Reserve or Grand Champion in Showmanship participated in the Round Robin consisting of a written test and brief showing of all animal categories.

A Special Thank you goes out to our club leaders: Angela Van Holland and Paula Nussbaum and the other leaders and fair board, Jen Hayford and Deb of Moody County Extension Office, sponsoring businesses and all the parents who invest their time to guide their kids in the 4H experience.  4H is all about head, heart, hands and health, it is a lot of work but the learning and experiences are too numerous to count!
