Hefting a Heidelberg at Sanders Printing

Date:

Equipment continues to be moved out of the former Sanders Printing business, equipment now owned by Preferred Printing of Sioux Falls

Heidelberg move

On Monday, Sioux Falls Crane and Hoist loaded the Heidelberg Kord 64 printing press from Sanders Printing in order to make the trek to its new home at Preferred Printing in Sioux Falls.

Bob Sanders sold Sanders Printing on January 26. Since then, he and long-time employee Al Hinz have been working hard on transitioning projects and equipment to Preferred Printing, the new owner. The movement of the large machine is one of the final pieces of transition.

The Heidelberg Kord 64 was one of two Heidelberg pieces of machinery in Sanders' business.

"They're workhorses," Sanders said of the machines. Since it was acquired from Germany in the late 1970's, the only major maintenance they've had to perform was to change out the chains, which stretch over time.

The Kord 64 is an offset printing press which is described as very versatile, and is able to print on paper that is nearly as thin as tissue paper or as thick as cardstock. Heidelberg has been a popular brand for over 170 years, known for producing very high-quality work.
