The Gazette caught up with Leah Konechne after the Garretson Pool Auction held on August 14.
“We had a really good turnout overall,” she said. “Somewhere between 150-200 people came out. This is the first year we’ve ever sold out of food. Bob Julson was back and it was great to have him back again as our auctioneer, really brought back the auction feeling of the event that people missed last year. The bidding was fierce for the 20 pies we had on hand, always our most popular item!”
The last regular day for the pool to be open was August 21st, but the pool will continue to be open on weekends from 12-5 with the last day on Labor Day.
“It’s something new that we’re trying out and I think it might work really well, help keep people cool the last days of summer.”
“We’ve had a really great turnout at the pool this year. A lot more people have commented positively about it. The new liner has worked out great. It’s easy to clean and the no slip grip is easy to walk on. Overall the pool has improved and looks nicer, and people have certainly noticed.”
