On Saturday, the Garretson Dragons on the Move and Parent-Teacher Organization banded together for a Glow Run, a time for Garretson students, teachers, and community members to come together for activities, food, and a 5k.

The event was very well attended, and smiles were found everywhere beforehand as kids took part in inflatables, pizza, and a kickball game where the points didn't matter. Once the race started, the smiles continued as participants ran, walked, or were pushed in a stroller around the track at the Athletic Complex.

"Ms. H.V. (Alyxa Hoefert-Veldhuizen) put a lot of work into this to make it happen," said Elementary Principal Katie Hoekman. Hoefert-Veldhuizen was the lead organizer for Dragons on the Move, which just finished its inaugural year.

For her part, Hoefert-Veldhuizen thanked fellow educators Liz Etrheim, Amber Schroeder, Amber Williamson, Lisa Danforth, Lauren Stoterau, Jeena Lentz, Kayli Coburn, and Stacy Williamson, along with PTO members Heather Schiltz, Brenda and Gracie Fiegen, and Emily Dagel for all their help with Dragons on the Move. Over 40 Garretson Elementary students participated in the four-week program.
