Girls JV Basketball Update

Garretson played host to the Flandreau Fliers on Tuesday January 11. First half action proved to be an even match with the Blue Dragons holding on to the lead 13-11 at the end of the second quarter.

Garretson struggled to score in the second half and Flandreau went on to win 33 – 22. Leading scorer for the Blue Dragons was Sydney Olson with six and Tayler Benson five.

On Monday January 17, Garretson matched-up with the Colman-Egan Hawks. Both teams struggled with the offensive game in the first half of play and the Blue Dragons went into halftime leading 10-6.

Garretson was able to maintain the lead in the third quarter with timely baskets by Sydney Olson and Jordyn Williams. In the fourth quarter the Blue Dragons went cold from the field and Colman-Egan went on a 14–4 run to get the win 20– 24. The Blue Dragons scoring effort was led by Jordyn Williams with ten and Sydney Olson with six.

The next day Tuesday January 18, Garretson met up with the Sioux Falls Christian Chargers. The Blue Dragons and the Chargers went head-to-head in the first half with SFC leading into the half 18 – 14. Garretson continued to battle with the Chargers, but the Blue Dragons were unable to stop the SFC offensive game and the Chargers went on to get the win 38 – 25. Scoring for Garretson was led by Sydney Olson and Kylie Christiansen each with seven with Jordyn Williams adding five.

On Friday January 21, Garretson made a trip to Vermillion to take on the Tanagers. In first quarter action the Tanagers out-scored the Blue Dragons 17 – 7. Garretson tried to make a run in the second, but Vermillion held on to the lead 27-18 going into the half. Garretson came out in the third and was able to cut the lead to five going into the fourth quarter.

The Blue Dragons continued to battle back but Vermillion went on to get the win 43–36. Leading the scoring effort for Garretson was Adi Fink with thirteen, Kylie Christensen added seven, Tayler Benson six and Sydney Olson chipped in five.
