Girls Basketball Update: Lady Dragons now 5-4

Date:

“We've played three times since Christmas Break has begun. We played Dell Rapids back on December 22nd, Tri-Valley on the 28th, and Dell Rapids St. Mary on the 4th of January,” said Head Coach Matt Schrank.

“In that span we won 2 and lost 1. We beat Dell Rapids 66-43. Jaelyn Benson led the way with 15 points, Lily Ranschau had 12, Sydney Olson and Jordyn Williams each chipped in with 11.”

“Following that game we had our makeup game with Tri-Valley. It was a very cold shooting game for the Lady Dragons and we lost 57-42. Anna Jones led us in scoring with 14 points, and Jaelyn Benson and Lily Ranschau each had 7.

“Earlier last week we traveled to Dell Rapids St. Mary for our 4th game in a row on the road. It was a really fun back and forth game early. We went into the locker room with a 4 point lead, 22-18, after an assist from Jaelyn to Anna for a layup at the buzzer and outscored DRSM 19-9 in the 3rd quarter to seal the 57-47 win. Jaelyn led the team with 13 points, Lily and Jordyn each had 12, and Logan Bly had 11.”

The girls faced Flandreau on Jan. 11, who are one of the top rated teams in the region currently, and lost 55-29.

With that win the girls record has moved to 5-4. Next game is a double header this Friday against Colman-Egan.
