The Garretson Wrestling team had a busy week last week, hosting a Quad tournament with Parker, McCook County/Montrose, and Howard on Thursday, and then hitting the road to Plankington to participate in the MVPCS Tournament on Saturday. (MVPCS stands for Mount Vernon-Plankington-Corsica-Stickney.) The Quad tournament at home proved to be a difficult night for the Blue Dragons, with no athletes placing.
"The wrestling team has been busy this past weekend as we hosted a home dual," remarked Head Coach Brady Schleuter. "It was a tough night for the Blue Dragons, but we are learning from the mistakes. There are a lot of positives to take away from Thursday's dual as the boys showed some fight in the last two duals."
However, they had better luck on Saturday, with four athletes placing in the top six.
Hunter Abraham 5th came out as the top Dragon, placing 5th in his weight class. Issac Stoterau, Tayson Swatek, and Gabe Johnson placed 6th.
Schlueter said, "We traveled to Plankinton on Saturday. It was a tough day again as we are getting better from the good competition we have been seeing. We have been working hard in practice looking to improve every day. We are a good team, we just have to get over the hump and show people what Garretson wrestling is made of!"
The wrestlers next take to the mat on December 30 in Webster.
