GHS South Dakota Legislative Pages

Each legislative session, high school students from across South Dakota have the opportunity for a firsthand look at the legislative process by serving as pages for the South Dakota Legislature. Pages are appointed to serve in the House of Representatives or the Senate for seven to ten days during one of the five term periods.

Interested students must apply to be a legislative page. The President Pro Tempore selects the Senate Pages and the Speaker of the House Selects the House pages.

Work duties of a legislative page include:

  • Sort and deliver legislative mail.
  • Attend and assist committee and LRC staff as needed in the daily committee meetings.
  • Work in the legislative post office on a rotational basis.
  • Answer phone and deliver messages to legislators on a rotational basis
  • Attend daily afternoon floor sessions and assist legislators and staff as needed.

Selected to serve as Legislative Pages from Garretson are High School Seniors:

Kennedy Buckneberg     Daughter of Dan and Michelle Wagner and Ryan and Carol Buckneberg.

Caeden Bunde     Son of Kelly and Tracy Bunde.

Caroline Hoskins     Daughter of Bill and Susan Hoskins (not pictured).

They will serve as Pages from January 25 – February 5.
