Varsity team to face final regular season game

Garretson Girls Varsity Basketball is 14-4, 7-2 in the league for their record this year! On Feb. 13 they faced McCook Central/Montrose and lost 52-64. They beat Flandreau 56-49 on Feb. 12. They also won against Beresford 43-31 on Feb. 9. The next game is here at home this Thursday against Sioux Valley. Region games are slated to start Feb. 23.

JV Girls Net Three More Wins

On Tuesday February 9 the Blue Dragons traveled to Beresford to matchup with the Watchdogs.  In first half JV action, Garretson battled with the Watchdogs and with a strong offensive showing went into halftime leading 26-12.  The Blue Dragons offensive game slowed some in the second half but Beresford was not able to gain momentum and Garretson went on to beat the Watchdogs 42-20.  The Blue Dragons had a well-balanced scoring effort led by Logan Bly’s 12 points, Sydney Olson added 11 and Jordyn Williams netted 7.  Anna Jones chipped in 5 and Makayla Heesch 4.

The Blue Dragons were on the road to Flandreau on Friday February 12, to take on the Fliers.  The JV girls got off to a great start in the first quarter with six out of eight girls netting points and Garretson outscoring the Fliers 17-5.  The Blue Dragons offensive game continued into the second quarter and Garretson led at the half 31-5.  In second half action, the momentum, stayed on the Blue Dragons side and Garretson went on to defeat the Fliers 44-5.  Sydney Olson led the offensive effort with 12 points and Jordyn Williams 8.   Raegen Altman and Logan Bly each added 7 points and Makayla Heesch 4.  For the defense Anna Jones grabbed 5 rebounds and Jordyn Williams 4.  Makayla Heesch had a season high of 8 steals with Raegen Altman and Jordyn Williams each getting 4.

The Blue Dragons hosted the McCook Central Montrose Cougars on Saturday February 13.  Garretson made a strong offensive showing against the Cougars as they outscored MCM 25-12 in the first half.  In second half action the Blue Dragons defensive game stayed strong and the team went on to win 44-25.  Logan Bly and Sydney Olson led the way with 9 points each.  Makayla Heesch netted 7 points and Raegan Altman and Anna Jones chipped in 6 apiece.  On defense Sydney Olson and Anna Jones each grabbed 3 rebounds and Raegen Altman, Logan Bly and Anna Jones had 4 steals apiece.
