GFC makes a few upgrades!

Date:

The Garretson Food Center has made some recent upgrades. Big four feet deep units with 16 shelves per units, right near the dairy section.

GFC update
Ron Luke, Garretson Food Center

“We’ve set up a new thaw freezer and a new refrigerator,” owner Ron Luke said. “We’ve stocked more frozen breads, rolls, cheesecakes, frozen ice cream cakes, and ready to go birthday cakes. This allows us to carry lots more popular frozen inventory items. Putting some of these items out on the shelf or fridge space limits both inventory and how long we can sell them for, because once they come out of the freezer they only have a shelf life of six to seven days. The new cooler space is mostly for more grab and go meal options, from twenty to twenty-five new selections. Calzones, breakfast sandwiches, and ready to go fruit cups. Ready to go with Hormel meat and cheese trays and even more specialty cheese options.”

Luke also has made available a microwave oven right next to that cooler for those grab and go customers.

“In all it is allowing us to stock almost a hundred new items for our customers,” he said.

And for the customers worried about where the fresh coffee beans and grinder disappeared to, Luke said that its new home is up front right behind the registers by a new shelving unit.

“People love their coffee, and it was only gone because we’ re were moving it up front,” he said. “Honestly, it has been selling better there too, so change is good. We always want our customers to have the most options we possibly can.”

For those who might not recall, Ron Luke and the Garretson Food Center were honored as the South Dakota Retailer of the Year back in 2016 by the South Dakota Retailers Association.
