Garretson School Board Special Meeting spends almost 5 hours in executive session

Date:

The Garretson School Board had a special meeting on June 29, 2021. Starting at 5:30 p.m., they adopted an agenda and appointed Gerry Kaufman, Attorney, as Hearing Officer and legal counsel to the Board for the purposes of an employee grievance hearing.

The grievance was filed by Garretson School second grade teacher Jodi Neugebauer at the last meeting of the district and during this special meeting they held the hearing in executive session. Though we’re not privy to whatever discussion or resolution of the situation took place in closed session, Supt. Johnson told the Gazette that they were in executive session until 10:26 p.m., which means the discussion took nearly 5 hours to resolve.
