Garretson, SD – Community Blood is partnering with Garretson High School FFA to host a community blood drive on Friday, October 11 between 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Garretson High School (505 2nd St). Donors can schedule a donation by logging onto cbblifeblood.org, selecting “events”, and October 11 or call 605-331-3222. Those donating receive a $10 D.Q. gift card as a thank you.
“Blood is a precious gift to patients requiring a blood transfusion. With just one donation a volunteer blood donor will provide life for up to 3 community patients,” states Lauri Hoffmann, Program Coordinator, Community Blood Bank. “When a person decides to roll up their sleeve and donate, it only takes 30 minutes for the act, but the gift can last a life-time. With fall weather setting in, we see an increase in blood usage due to people completing elective surgeries before the end of the year. We also see more accidents on the roadways because of the movement of deer and other field animals. It is important to be ready for traumas coming through emergency departments in our area. Blood is one of the foundations for medical preparedness. Join in to provide hope to your neighbors, friends, and family. Please give blood October 11 at Garretson High School. The life you save could be a neighbor, friend, or a family member.”
Community Blood Banks is a nonprofit, cooperative of Sanford and Avera Health.
