Garretson Club Baseball deals with two more losses as it nears end of season

The Garretson Club Baseball team played on Thursday, April 29, and Sunday, May 2 against Tea and Lennox, but had a hard time overcoming both teams. They have three more games on the regular schedule, with their final home game today (Thursday) at 6:00 p.m. against West Central.

Garretson Blue Dragons Pitches Well, But Can't Find Enough Runs in Loss to Tea

Both teams were strong on the hill on Thursday, April 29, but Tea was just a little bit stronger at the plate in a victory over Garretson Blue Dragons on Thursday. Jayse Miller started the game for Garretson Blue Dragons and recorded 19 outs.

One bright spot for Garretson Blue Dragons was a single by Miller in the second inning.

Babb led things off on the mound for Tea. The ace went six innings, allowing zero runs on one hit and striking out four.

Portner went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Tea in hits.

Garretson Blue Dragons Can't Hold Up Against Lennox

Garretson Blue Dragons had a tough time generating runs on Sunday, dropping their game with Lennox 17-3.

Lennox fired up the offense in the first inning, when Eich tripled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run.

In the bottom of the first inning, Garretson Blue Dragons tied things up at two. Garretson Blue Dragons scored one run on a stolen base.

Lennox pulled away for good with eight runs in the third inning. In the third VanHouten doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs, Sancali drew a walk, scoring one run, Eich singled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs, Fodness doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs, and Duncan singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

Eich pitched Lennox to victory. The hurler lasted five innings, allowing six hits and three runs while striking out eight.

Isaiah Gnadt took the loss for Garretson Blue Dragons. Gnadt went two and a third innings, allowing seven runs on five hits and striking out one.

Jake Schroder went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Garretson Blue Dragons in hits. Tayson Swatek led Garretson Blue Dragons with three stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with seven stolen bases.

Lennox scattered ten hits in the game. Eich, Fodness, and Sancali each collected multiple hits for Lennox. Lennox was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Fodness had the most chances in the field with eight. Lennox tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Eich led the way with four.
