South Dakota High School Baseball has begun, and The Class B Garretson Blue Dragon baseball team has been playing hard despite a cold spring thus far. They have played four games so far this season, and won two.
Bats Blistered as Garretson Blue Dragons Defeats Baltic, 15-9
On Monday, April 12, both offenses were strong in Garretson Blue Dragons 15-9 victory over Baltic.
In the first inning, Garretson Blue Dragons got their offense started. Brady DeBates singled on a 1-1 count, scoring three runs.
Garretson Blue Dragons scored four runs in the seventh inning. Jake Schroeder, Josef Zahn, and Nate Skillman all drove in runs in the frame.
Baltic scored four runs in the sixth inning. The big inning for Baltic came thanks to walks by #15, #9, and #2 and a single by #3.
Jayse Miller took the win for Garretson Blue Dragons. The righthander went one and one-third innings, allowing zero runs on zero hits, striking out one and walking one. Carson Clark and Schroeder entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Player #9 was on the hill for Baltic. The hurler allowed four hits and five runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out two. Players #19, #8, #26, and #2 each entered the game as relief, throwing two and a third innings, one and one-third innings, one inning, and two-thirds of an inning respectively.
Isaiah Gnadt started the game for Garretson Blue Dragons. The pitcher allowed three hits and two runs over two innings, striking out two.
Garretson Blue Dragons had 15 hits in the game. Zahn, Tayson Swatek, Miller, Skillman, and Schroeder all collected multiple hits for Garretson Blue Dragons. Swatek and Zahn each collected three hits to lead Garretson Blue Dragons.
The Garretson Blue Dragons were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Ryan Flanagan made the most plays with ten.

Flandreau Nearly Erases 5-Run Deficit in Loss to Garretson Blue Dragons
Garretson Blue Dragons built a five-run lead in the second inning and then held off Flandreau's charge for a 6-5 victory on Sunday.
Flandreau put up five runs in the failed comeback. Players #22, #12, #2, #51, and #47 powered the rally with RBIs.
Garretson Blue Dragons earned the victory despite allowing Flandreau to score three runs in the third inning. Flandreau's big inning was driven by a single by #2, a groundout by #12, and an error on a ball put in play by #22.
Garretson Blue Dragons got on the board in the first inning. Garretson Blue Dragons scored two runs when Nate Skillman doubled.

Dell Rapids Captures Lead Early to Defeat Garretson Blue Dragons
Garretson Blue Dragons watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 6-2 loss to Dell Rapids on Friday, April 23. Dell Rapids scored on a single by #14 and a stolen base in the first inning.
Dell Rapids got on the board in the first inning. Dells player #5 was credited with the victory for Dell Rapids. The fireballer surrendered one run on two hits over four innings, striking out six. #21 threw two and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Dylan Kindt took the loss for Garretson Blue Dragons. The pitcher lasted three innings, allowing three hits and five runs while striking out two.
Jake Schroeder, Kindt, Brady DeBates, and Josef Zahn each managed one hit to lead Garretson Blue Dragons.

Tri Valley Runs Away with Early Lead in Victory
On Monday, Garretson Blue Dragons watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 5-0 loss to Tri Valley. Tri Valley scored on a walk by their player, Carlson, in the second inning.
Tri Valley fired up the offense in the first inning. Tri Valley's pitcher, Hardgraves, grounded out into a double play, scoring one run.
One bright spot for Garretson Blue Dragons was a single by Dylan Kindt in the third inning.
Tri Valley’s pitcher got the win for Tri Valley. The ace went six and two-thirds innings, allowing zero runs on three hits and striking out seven.
Josef Zahn took the loss for Garretson Blue Dragons. The righthander surrendered two runs on three hits over five innings, striking out six.
Carson Clark, Kindt, and Jayse Miller all had one hit to lead Garretson Blue Dragons.
Tri Valley's #26 led the team with two hits in two at bats. Tri Valley didn't commit a single error in the field. Tri Valley's Groenwald had six chances in the field, the most on the team.
The Dragons go to bat against Tea tonight (Thursday) on their turf at 6:30 p.m. The next home game for the Blue Dragons will be on Sunday, May 2nd when they face up against Lennox.
