Garretson 16U played for keeps this season, gathering an overall win-loss record of 11-4. Unfortunately, the team did not qualify for State, taking the regions loss against Flandreau and Parker in their final post-season games, hosted in Garretson July 19-21.

Garretson 16U Takes Victory Over Tri-Valley, 10-5

Garretson 16U beat Tri-Valley 10-5 on Thursday, July 22 in its final league game of the season.

Garretson 16U got on the board in the first inning when Tayson Swatek singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.

Carson Clark was credited with the victory for Garretson 16U. The pitcher went four and two-thirds innings, allowing four runs on eight hits and striking out three. Swatek threw two and a third innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Everett Althoff took the loss for Tri-Valley. The bulldog surrendered six runs on four hits over two innings, striking out three and walking one.

Swatek went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Garretson 16U in hits. Garretson 16U stole 11 bases during the game as three players stole more than one. Swatek led the way with three.

Tri-Valley totaled ten hits in the game. Althoff, Noah Haynes, and Kaden Egger each had multiple hits for Tri-Valley.

Garretson 16U Can't Catch Up to Flandreau

Garretson 16U fell behind early and couldn't come back in an 11-8 loss to Flandreau on Monday, July 26 in the Class B Region Tournament held in Garretson.

Flandreau scored on a walk by P Parsley in the first inning, a single by Tyson in the first inning, an error during Camden's at bat in the second inning, and a double by Colby in the second inning.

Despite the loss, Garretson 16U did collect 14 hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Flandreau had 12 hits on the way to victory.

Flandreau got things moving in the first inning, when Parsley drew a walk, scoring one run.

Garretson 16U put up three runs in the seventh inning. Garretson 16U put the pressure on, led by singles from Samuel Schleuter, Michael Olson, and Drew Pederson.

Colby earned the win for Flandreau. The fireballer surrendered five runs on ten hits over five and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking one. Dylan threw one and one-third innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Carson Clark took the loss for Garretson 16U. The righthander surrendered six runs on eight hits over three and a third innings, striking out four.

Garretson 16U racked up 14 hits on the day. Clark, Olson, Schleuter, Dylan Kindt, and Cooper Long each managed multiple hits for Garretson 16U. Clark went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Garretson 16U in hits.

Flandreau had 12 hits in the game. Colby, Ethan, Matthew, and Tyson each collected multiple hits for Flandreau. Colby led Flandreau with four hits in four at bats.

Garretson 16U Falls to SDVFW 16U Parker after Sixth Inning Score

Garretson 16U lost the lead late in an 11-10 defeat to SDVFW 16U Parker on Tuesday, July 27 in their final game of the year. The game was tied at six with SDVFW 16U Parker batting in the top of the sixth when G G singled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run.

Tayson Swatek drove in four runners in the loss. Swatek drove in runs on a single in the first, a single in the second, and a walk in the seventh.

Garretson 16U captured the lead in the second inning. Michael Olson hit into a fielder's choice, scoring one run.

In the top of the third inning, SDVFW 16U Parker tied things up at six. Ethan K doubled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.

After SDVFW 16U Parker scored two runs in the top of the seventh, Garretson 16U answered with two of their own. SDVFW 16U Parker scored when Jaivyn D singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run. Garretson 16U then answered when Dylan Kindt drew a walk, scoring one run and Swatek drew a walk, scoring one run.

Garretson 16U notched five runs in the second inning. Olson, Kindt, and Swatek each had RBIs in the frame.

SDVFW 16U Parker scored five runs in the third inning. SDVFW 16U Parker big bats were led by Jaivyn, Logan B, Seth V, Ethan S, and Ethan, all driving in runs in the frame.

Seth was the winning pitcher for SDVFW 16U Parker. The ace went one and one-third innings, allowing two runs on two hits, striking out three and walking one. Ray T threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Ray recorded the last three outs to earn the save for SDVFW 16U Parker.

Kindt took the loss for Garretson 16U. Kindt lasted two and a third innings, allowing one hit and two runs while striking out seven and walking one.

Swatek started the game for Garretson 16U. The righty allowed six hits and six runs over three and a third innings, striking out five G started the game for SDVFW 16U Parker. G surrendered six runs on six hits over four and two-thirds innings, striking out six and walking one.

Garretson 16U tallied eight hits. Samuel Schleuter and Swatek all managed multiple hits for Garretson 16U. Swatek and Schleuter each managed three hits to lead Garretson 16U.

SDVFW 16U Parker racked up ten hits in the game. Jaivyn and Ray all collected multiple hits for SDVFW 16U Parker. Jaivyn went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead SDVFW 16U Parker in hits.

The Garretson team ended its 2021 season with an overall 11-4 season score. The team consisted of Preston Bohl, Carson Clark, Jayse Miller, Dylan Kindt, Sam Schleuter, Treyton Chester, Michael Olson, Drew Pederson, Braxten Roozeboom, Cooper Long, Tayson Swatek, and Dylan Jessen.
