Garretson 14U takes to the home field

            After a week long hiatus, Garretson 14U baseball took to the home field on Wednesday, June 22, Thursday, June 23, and Monday, June 27. While they took home the win against Hamlin in both games and against Tri Valley Maroon in one game, they faced a loss against Flandreau.

I-29 League Garretson 14U Nabs Win Over Hamlin 14 U Despite Early 3-Run Inning

            Even though I-29 League Garretson 14U gave up three runs in the second inning, they still defeated Hamlin 14 U 13-3 on Wednesday, June 22.

            Hamlin 14 U's big inning was driven by a single by T Olson and a groundout by W Grantham.

            I-29 League Garretson 14U got things moving in the first inning, when Cole Jessen grounded out, scoring one run.

            They pulled away for good with two runs in the second inning. In the second Carter Siemonsma singled on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs.

            I-29 League Garretson 14U notched six runs in the fourth inning. Siemonsma, Isaac Stoterau, Dan Hoskins, and Treyton Decker all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

            Jessen was on the hill for I-29 League Garretson 14U. The pitcher lasted four innings, allowing one hit and three runs while striking out five.

            Grantham toed the rubber for Hamlin 14 U. The bulldog surrendered four runs on four hits over one and two-thirds innings, striking out two. R Prouty and Olson entered the game from the bullpen, throwing one and two-thirds innings and one-third of an inning respectively.

            I-29 League Garretson 14U tallied one home run on the day. Noah Schotzko had a long ball in the third inning.

            I-29 League Garretson 14U tallied ten hits in the game. Siemonsma, Decker, and Schotzko each had multiple hits for I-29 League Garretson 14U. Siemonsma led I-29 League Garretson 14U with three hits in three at bats. Siemonsma led I-29 League Garretson 14U with five stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with 13 stolen bases.

            Olson went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead Hamlin 14 U in hits. Hamlin 14 U tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. C Thu led the way with two.

Hamlin 14 U Nearly Erases 7-Run Deficit in Loss To I-29 League Garretson 14U

            I-29 League Garretson 14U built a seven-run lead in the second inning and then held off Hamlin 14 U's charge for a 7-6 victory on Wednesday, June 22.

            Hamlin 14 U tallied six runs in the failed comeback. S West, W Grantham, P Boeger, G Magg, and J Mahe came through with RBIs to lead the rally.

            Hamlin 14 U scored five runs in the fourth inning, but I-29 League Garretson 14U still managed to pull out the victory. The big inning for Hamlin 14 U came thanks to a walk by West, a single by Grantham, an error on a ball put in play by Boeger, and a double by Magg.

            Drew Chester got the start for I-29 League Garretson 14U. The pitcher went three innings, allowing three runs on four hits and striking out one.

            T Olson toed the rubber for Hamlin 14 U. The bulldog went two innings, allowing seven runs on five hits and striking out four. Magg threw two innings in relief.

            Chester went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead I-29 League Garretson 14U in hits.

            Hamlin 14 U racked up nine hits on the day. Grantham and R Prouty each collected multiple hits for Hamlin 14 U. Grantham led Hamlin 14 U with three hits in four at bats. Hamlin 14 U stole five bases during the game as two players stole more than one. K Hauck led the way with two.

I-29 League Garretson 14U Loses Lead Early in Defeat

            I-29 League Garretson 14U fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 9-5 loss to I-29 League Flandreau 14U on Thursday, June 23.

            Flandreau 14U scored on a triple by Xavier B, a single by #27, a single by Tucker H, an error, and an error in the first inning. Flandreau fired up the offense in the first inning, when B tripled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.

            H led things off on the mound for I-29 League Flandreau 14U. The fireballer went four innings, allowing four runs on two hits and striking out six.

            Isaiah Coburn led things off on the hill for I-29 League Garretson 14U. The righthander went three innings, allowing eight runs on three hits, striking out two and walking zero. Treyton Decker and Carter Siemonsma entered the game as relief, throwing one and one-third innings and two-thirds of an inning respectively.

            Aiden Johnson, Collin Olson, and Ian Buettner all had one hit to lead I-29 League Garretson 14U.

I-29 League Garretson 14U Clinches Lead in Fifth Inning to Defeat Tri Valley Maroon 14U

            I-29 League Garretson 14U ran off with the lead late in the game in a 22-12 victory over Tri Valley Maroon 14U on Monday, June 27. The game was tied at 11 with I-29 League Garretson 14U batting in the bottom of the fifth when Isaac Stoterau singled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs.

            Stoterau collected four hits in five at bats to help lead I-29 League Garretson 14U to victory. Stoterau singled in the third, singled in the fourth, singled in the fifth, and singled in the sixth.

            Tri Valley Maroon 14U fired up the offense in the first inning. T Richter drove in one when Richter doubled.

            In the bottom of the fourth inning, I-29 League Garretson 14U tied things up at 11. An error scored two runs for I-29 League Garretson 14U.

            Tri Valley Maroon 14U scored five runs in the third inning. G Egger, T Bunde, and P Hemme each drove in runs during the inning.

            Collin Olson toed the rubber for I-29 League Garretson 14U. The righthander lasted two and a third innings, allowing seven hits and eight runs while striking out one and walking one.

            C Hesrixson was on the mound for Tri Valley Maroon 14U. The pitcher lasted two and a third innings, allowing five hits and eight runs while striking out five. K Bernards and Egger entered the game from the bullpen, throwing two innings and two-thirds of an inning respectively.

            I-29 League Garretson 14U racked up 13 hits in the game. Stoterau, Ian Buettner, and Treyton Decker each racked up multiple hits for I-29 League Garretson 14U. Stoterau led I-29 League Garretson 14U with four hits in five at bats. Buettner led I-29 League Garretson 14U with four stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with 13 stolen bases.

            Tri Valley Maroon 14U racked up ten hits. Richter, Egger, and Hesrixson each had multiple hits for Tri Valley Maroon 14U. Richter went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Tri Valley Maroon 14U in hits. Tri Valley Maroon 14U stole seven bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Richter led the way with two.

            The team took on Tea-P 14U on Wednesday (results not available at press time), and will go after Dells Navy, Madison Maroon, and West Central Gold next week Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, in their final games of the regular season.
