Garretson 14U Baseball update

The Garretson 14U baseball team has been up against a tough league this year, and is at an overall win-loss record of 0-13 going into their final regular games of the season. However, that hasn't stopped them from playing their hearts out. Their last two regular games of the season were played this week Tuesday and Wednesday versus Baltic and Parker, respectively (results unavailable at press time).

Garretson 14U Can't Catch Up to Tea Navy

Garretson 14U watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 12-0 loss to Tea Navy on Friday, June 25. Tea Navy took the lead on a single in the first inning.

The Garretson 14U struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Tea Navy, giving up 12 runs.

Tea Navy got on the board in the first inning. Jack K singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

One bright spot for Garretson 14U was a single by Tyler Erickson in the first inning.

Jack K was on the mound for Tea Navy. The pitcher went five innings, allowing zero runs on five hits, striking out eight and walking zero.

Treyton Decker was on the hill for Garretson 14U. The righthander went two and a third innings, allowing 11 runs on 12 hits and striking out one. Cole Jessen threw one and two-thirds innings in relief.

Jessen, Caleb Westerbur, Erickson, Decker, and Dan Hoskins all had one hit to lead Garretson 14U. Garretson 14U didn't commit a single error in the field. Jessen had the most chances in the field with eight.

Tea Navy tallied 15 hits on the day. Jaden, Jacobi, Jack K, Jackson, and Cole each had multiple hits for Tea Navy. Jaden led Tea Navy with three hits in three at bats. Tea Navy was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Cole made the most plays with eight. Tea Navy stole six bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Kory led the way with two.

Garretson 14U Stays Scrappy in Loss to Volga

Despite a 4-run deficit in the fifth inning, Garretson 14U almost came all the way back, eventually falling 9-8 to Volga on Sunday, June 27. Garretson 14U scored six runs in the failed comeback on a double by Treyton Decker in the fifth, a double by Dylan Wolf in the fifth, a walk by Dan Hoskins in the sixth, a double by Caleb Westerbur in the sixth, a single by Collin Olson in the sixth, and a single by Noah Schotzko in the seventh.

Garretson 14U was right in it until Volga homered in the eighth inning.

Volga got things started in the first inning. Volga scored one run when #37 singled.

Garretson 14U evened things up at eight in the bottom of the seventh inning when Schotzko singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run and notched three runs in the sixth inning. They put the pressure on, led by a walk by Hoskins, a single by Olson, and a double by Westerbur.

Volga scored three runs in the fifth inning. Volga scored its runs on a triple by #18.

#37 got the start for Volga. undefined allowed two hits and four runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out six.

Cole Jessen led things off on the hill for Garretson 14U. The pitcher lasted three and a third innings, allowing five hits and four runs while striking out two. Riley Lafferty-Mack and Westerbur entered the game as relief, throwing two innings and one and two-thirds innings respectively.

Garretson 14U tallied eight hits. Decker and Schotzko all had multiple hits for Garretson 14U. Decker went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Garretson 14U in hits.

Volga totaled 11 hits in the game. #22, #39, and #4 all collected multiple hits for Volga. #22 led Volga with three hits in three at bats. Volga tore up the base paths, as five players stole at least two bases. #40 led the way with three.

West Central Gold Captures Lead Early to Defeat Garretson 14U

Garretson 14U fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 13-2 loss to West Central Gold on Tuesday, June 29. West Central Gold scored on a walk by Zach, a walk by Carter, and a walk by Evan in the first inning.

The Garretson 14U struggled to contain the high-powered offense of West Central Gold, giving up 13 runs.

In the first inning, West Central Gold got their offense started when Zach drew a walk, scoring one run.

West Central Gold scored four runs in the third inning. The big inning for West Central Gold came thanks to singles by Keyton and Carter, a walk by Zach, and by Caden.

Nick led things off on the pitcher's mound for West Central Gold.

Dan Hoskins toed the rubber for Garretson 14U. Hoskins lasted two-thirds of an inning, allowing zero hits and three runs while striking out one. Isaiah Coburn, Dylan Wolf, and Carter Siemonsma each contributed in relief for Garretson 14U.

Treyton Decker went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Garretson 14U in hits. Garretson 14U didn't commit a single error in the field. Caleb Westerbur had the most chances in the field with four.

West Central Gold collected 12 hits on the day. Jack, Caden, Jessie, and Carter all managed multiple hits for West Central Gold. Jack led West Central Gold with three hits in four at bats. Nick led West Central Gold with three stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with 13 stolen bases.

Garretson 14U Loses Lead Early in Defeat

Garretson 14U watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 16-6 loss to Flandreau on Wednesday, June 30.

Garretson 14U collected three hits and Flandreau had 12 in the high-scoring affair.

Flandreau got things moving in the first inning. Kody tripled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run. Kody also scored on a triple. A double by Xavier and a single by Alfie finished the inning.

Garretson 14U scored six runs in the fifth inning. The offensive onslaught came from a walk by Treyton Decker, a single by Collin Olson, by Noah Schotzko, and by Dan Hoskins.

Flandreau scored nine runs in the fifth inning. Lincoln, Xavier, Alfie, Cam, Luke, and Wyatt all contributed in the big inning with runs batted in (RBIs).

Luke led things off on the pitcher's mound for Flandreau. The bulldog surrendered two runs on two hits over four and a third innings, striking out seven.

Decker toed the rubber for Garretson 14U. The righty lasted two and a third innings, allowing six hits and seven runs while striking out four. Caleb Westerbur and Isaac Stoterau entered the game from the bullpen, throwing one and two-thirds innings and one-third of an inning respectively.

Olson, Cole Schleuter , and Westerbur each managed one hit to lead Garretson 14U.

Flandreau collected 12 hits. Xavier, Brendan, and Lincoln all managed multiple hits for Flandreau. Xavier led Flandreau with three hits in three at bats.
