Prairie Rose Community Fund generously provided thousands of dollars toward different area initiatives this week. Senior Kaley Flanagan provided 75 blankets for children hospitalized at Sanford's Children's Hospital for her Capstone project, and the final week of the SD Legislature is covered.

This week's paper was very youth-focused! The Garretson Middle School held their 15th annual Science Fair this last week. Congrats to all the students who did so well on their projects! FFA Week was last week and a successful community breakfast was held, but the Petting Zoo was rescheduled to this week Friday, March 3 due to the weather last week. Oran Sorenson was inducted into the South Dakota Wrestling Hall of Fame, and the Boy Scouts held their annual Pinewood Derby race.

The Garretson school board approved a measure to allow students from Dell Rapids to join the GHS Blue Dragons Soccer team, the final games of boys' and girls' basketball season are currently being held, and we highlight the most recent Blue Light Podcast with Pastor Steve Moberg. Also, Friday is the final deadline for petitions to be in the running for School Board member or City Council member, so act now and join the election process- many different perspectives and ideas keep our community fresh. Pick up your petition at the School Business Office or City Hall, gather 8 or more signatures, and return the petitions by Friday.
