Deubrook Takes Down The Blue Dragons

Date:

by Tad Heitkamp, Head Coach

On December 31st, 2020, the Blue Dragons traveled to White, SD to participate in the annual Michael J. Entringer Classic.

#24 Evan Bly passes to #10 Jake Schroeder in the Dragon's Lair on Dec 11's game vs Tri Valley.

The Blue Dragons were matched up against a very talented Deubrook Dolphin’s team this year and it didn’t take long to figure out what kind of a day it was going to be for the visiting team.

Deubrook took the tip and didn’t look back as they defeated the Blue Dragons 76-50.

“Deubrook stepped on to the court with the attitude that they weren’t going to be denied and followed that up with some unbelievable shooting,” stated Coach Heitkamp. “They knocked down 13 3-pointers on the day and played solid defense for an entire 32 minutes.

“We showed some positive things from time to time, but we couldn’t overcome the deficit we put ourselves in the first half.”

Dylan Kindt had another solid game for the Blue Dragons as he knocked down 16 points. Cooper Long and Josef Zahn each had 12 points, while Jake Schroeder and Rave Uhlich collected 3 points each. Sam Schleuter and Rhett Kloth rounded out the scoring with 2 points respectively.

“We had a couple of kids step up on the offensive side of the ball today, but emphasized the importance of great team defense. That was something we lacked today, which has been a strength of ours going into this contest,” indicated Heitkamp. “We are going to work hard this week in practice to get things moving in the right direction again. We will be traveling to Parker on Thursday to take on the Pheasants in the opening round of the Big East Tourney.”

The team will then battle Sioux Valley or Beresford on Friday (location TBD) before playing another game on Saturday (again location TBD).
