Garretson Cross Country began its season at the Beresford Invite on Friday, August 27. Though the Garretson roster was small for the meet, the athletes worked hard.

"Sam Schleuter and Preston Bohl led the way when they medaled in their respective races.  Sam was 15th in the JV division and Preston was 15th in the varsity division," said Coach Jason Bohl.

In Varsity, Preston Bohl placed 15th overall with a time of 17:57.96. MaKayla Heesch placed 42nd overall with a time of 24:06.43.

Boys' JV athlete Sam Schleuter also placed 15th overall with a time of 16:04.13. Girl's JV athletes Claire Crepelle, Erin Steen, Eliza Potter, and Sarah Welch placed 39th, 43rd, 59th, and 65th, respectively. The Girls JV team had an overall 5th place out of the 6 teams competing.

The cross country athletes competed on Tuesday, August 31 at McCook Central/Montrose (results unavailable at press time), and will host the Jesse James Invitational next Tuesday, September 7 at 4:00 p.m. at River Ridge Golf Course. Varsity girls will compete first, followed by Varsity boys, JV girls, and JV boys.
