Class of 59 Birthday Bash

Date:

The girls from the class of 1959 celebrated their 80th birthdays at Tailgators in Brandon on August 31. They gathered for a luncheon to celebrate and bring back old memories. Those attending were Diane Hanson Johnson, Kay McDonald, Charlotte Johanson Bowdle, Gladys Hinds Ambroson, Diane Rademaker Nussbaum, Dorothy Haley Larson, Sharon Plahn Kringen, Barbara Barger Edmundson, Karen Reemts Anderson, and Karen Kock DeWit. Those unable to attend were Carol Heesch Johnson, Cindy Yates, Harriet Lerdahl, and Deanna Bratten Santema.

The afternoon was spent recalling some of the crazy things we did, like homecoming snake dance through uptown, freshman walk back to town, creating the first prom dance, can-can skirts, who married Garretson boys, and what being 80 means.

We were saddened by the death in 2020 of Karen Jones Bratten, Lois Jean Hove Holien, and Beverly Embrock Harrington. God bless their memory.

When time came to depart, everyone left with a vintage hankie paper doll made by Sharon Kringen. Plans were discussed to get together on our 65th class reunion with the men. "Til we meet again" were the closing thoughts.
