Canova Gang Nearly Erases 7-Run Deficit in Loss to Garretson Legion

            Garretson Legion team built a seven-run lead in the fourth inning and then held off Canova Gang's charge for a 7-6 victory on Friday.  Canova Gang scored six runs in the failed comeback on a walk by Griffin Clubb in the sixth, a single by Lane Miller in the sixth, and a double by Clubb in the seventh.

            Both offenses were strong at the plate as Garretson Legion collected eight hits and Canova Gang six in the high-scoring affair.

            Garretson Legion opened up scoring in the second inning.  Cadyn Ockenga singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run. The team also notched four runs in the third inning.  Colby Buseman, Jake Schroeder, and Ockenga each had RBIs in the big inning.

            Canova Gang scored three runs in the seventh inning, scoring its runs on a double by Clubb.

            Isaiah Gnadt was the winning pitcher for Garretson Legion. The righty surrendered zero runs on two hits over four innings, striking out four.  Jaylen Kemp and Buseman entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.  Buseman recorded the last out to earn the save for Garretson Legion.

            Clubb took the loss for Canova Gang Legion 2022. The righty lasted four innings, allowing eight hits and seven runs while striking out four.

            Garretson Legion tallied eight hits in the game.  Tayson Swatek, Buseman, and Ockenga each collected multiple hits for Garretson Legion.  Ockenga, Buseman, and Swatek each managed two hits to lead Garretson Legion.
