The Blue Dragon Soccer team played its final two games of the regular season last week, heading to Marshall, MN on Tuesday and hosting Groton Area on Saturday. The game against Marshall ended in a tie 1-1, while the Dragons had a tough time against Groton, coming away with a 0-3 score.
In the at-home game last Saturday, the team in blue played a solid match. However, Groton worked to keep the ball on the Dragon's goal, and slipped all three past goalie Cortney Rogich before the first half was completed. In one frustrating play, the ball bounced over Rogich's head before landing at the back of the net.
Though they were unable to get too many shots at the back of their opponents' net, the Dragons were able to prevent the Tigers from scoring any further points in the second half, ending the game 0-3.
The team headed into the postseason on Tuesday in the Class A State Quarterfinals, traveling to #3 seed Dakota Valley (results not available at press time). The winner of that game was slated to play either Groton Area or Vermillion on Saturday, October 12 at the higher seeded school.
