Blue Dragon boys C Team splits a pair of games in recent action

Date:

by Cory Buchholz, Coach

The Blue Dragon C team took on the Cardinals from Dell Rapids St. Marys on February 1st only to have our effort come up short by the score of 29 - 35. “We really had 2 quarters that really hurt us, the second and the third. I was proud of the way we attacked and took some open shots in the first quarter. After the first quarter, we all the sudden thought that was enough effort for the game and started going back to complacency and non-aggressiveness.  As we preach and preach over and over, we need to come out to play all 4 quarters, from the opening tip to the final whistle,” stated Coach Buchholz.

Pushing the pace was Junior Olson with 8 points, all in the first quarter. Blaine Trower ended the contest with 5 points, while coming off the bench was Clay Lardy and Matthew Gilbert each with 4 points. Dylan Jessen, Treyton Chester, Tyler Edmondson, and Saige Solheim each rounded out the scoring each with 2 points to their credit.

The following night the Garretson C team ballers played host to Baltic and came away with a tightly contested 34-30 win. “This was a game that we needed to come out and win. We did some really great things that I hope the boys realize it as much as we as coaches do. We didn’t shoot the ball well but did all of the little things it takes to win a ball game. To get to the free throw line 19 times in the game really shows that we were taking the ball to the rim well and finishing with point opportunities (13 of 19 from the line),” stated Coach Buchholz.

Matthew Gilbert led the way with 8 points followed closely by Clay Lardy and Blaine Trower each with 6 points apiece. Treyton Chester, along with Tyler Edmondson, each connected for 4 points while Dylan Jessen and Junior Olson cleaned up the scoring each with 3 hard earned points of their own.
