American Legion Auxiliary Report

The American Legion Auxiliary met on October 3 with President, Cheryl Lyngen, opening the meeting.  Chaplain, Sue, opened with prayer.  The Pledge of Allegiance was recited along with the Star Spangled Banner and the Preamble of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Roll call indicated two officers absent.

The secretary’s report was read, approved and placed on file.

The treasurer’s report was given by Cheryl and placed on file for audit.

Membership chairperson, Linda, stated that we now have 116 paid members and our goal for this year is 176.

September bingo volunteers for Palisade Healthcare indicated that more volunteers would be good to help with bingo in the upcoming months.

A draping of the charter ceremony was given for Martha Evenson.

Darlene, Liz and Cheryl attended a welcome meeting for National President Nicole Clapp.  It was held in Sioux Falls and they commented on the fine, casual and informative communication that they experienced there.

For the upcoming gift shop at the V.A. in Sioux Falls, Judy moved that we give $250.00.  The motion was seconded by Sue.

Make a Difference Day is October 26 and through the discussion it was decided to order customized pencils to be given to students at the local school and also to contribute coats, scarves, gloves and blankets to the Treasure Chest to be distributed to those in need.

Bingo at Palisade Healthcare will be on October 9 at 2:30. DeVona will be the chairperson with volunteers, Lois, Waneta, JoAnn and Rhonda assisting.

Our Unit will provide lunch and entertainment for the V.A. in Sioux Falls on Saturday, November 16 at 1:30.

The annual Veterans Day Dinner will be at the Legion on November 11.

Our next meeting is November 7 with a meal at 7:00 and meeting at 8:00.
