AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY – APRIL

Date:

The American Legion Auxiliary met April 8 at 8:00.  Vice Chair, Da Nann opened the meeting and Chaplain, Sue began with a prayer.

Roll call indicated three officers absent.

The secretary’s report was read, approved and placed on file.  Communications were read, including our monthly newsletter and several bills were presented and approved for payment.

The treasurer gave the monthly report and it was approved and placed on file for audit.

Da Nann stated that membership is now at 173 with a goal of 181.

Diane reported on a number of cards that she has sent in the past weeks.

Kathy reported that there are two applicants for scholarships and it was decided to have a committee look them over right after this meeting.

Da Nann read a list of all local poem and essay winners and it was noted that the response and learning from these has been very good.

Ethel read Cheryl’s year-end report of our unit’s activities and it was concluded that many good donations were made to our community and to the V.A. in Sioux Falls even when Covid was such a huge factor.

Upcoming activities include the Memorial Day program in May and distribution of poppies.

There was a discussion on the bakeless bake sale fund raiser for the near future.

Our next meeting is May 6.  Chaplain, Sue, closed the meeting with prayer.

Elaine Benson won the door prize.

  • Ethel Kurtz, Secretary
