Congratulations to Junior Lizzie Olson on scoring her 1000th point during the Region 3A Tournament on Monday, March 2! The team prevailed against the Quarriers and will proceed to the Semi-Finals, which will be held Thursday, March 5 at 8:00 p.m. in Harrisburg.

The Garretson Girls HS Basketball team has been on a roll, late in the season. Their last four games have all been wins!

It started on Feb. 20th when the Lady Dragons had a narrow victory against Sioux Valley, 56-49. They then faced Baltic on Feb. 25 and won handily with a score of 56-27. On Feb. 27th, they traveled to Dell Rapids and won there with a score of 64-45, and they came home on Monday night to face Dells again, and beat them with a score of 68-46.

The crowd was extremely passionate about their Lady Dragons on Monday. The cheers were audible on the street outside the building.

“The energy in the building was outstanding,” said Girls Head Coach Matt Schrank. “The type of crowd noise you need to keep momentum going on your side. This game was a lot of fun!”

Not only was it fun, but Monday night was the regional contest.

“Obviously we got the region win and move on to the semifinals, but the other point I want to make is that Lizzie Olson scored her 1,000th point, and she is only a junior! Lizzie had 25 points this last game, Jaelyn Benson had 13, there were 7 apiece for Lauren Heesch and Lily Ranschau. Lizzie also had 17 rebounds. Jaelyn had 4 assists and 5 steals. Mya Long had 3 steals.”

With this win, the Lady Dragons will be traveling to Harrisburg tonight, (Thursday, March 5th) to face the Tri-Valley Mustangs. Game-time is at 8:00 pm.

“This is a rematch we have been waiting for since the first game of the season,” said Coach Schrank.
