4 GHS Students get Superior Acting Awards

Date:

Last week Wednesday, the Garretson High School presented their one act play, "Gossip," to region judges in Canton. Despite a good showing, tough competition eliminated Garretson from state consideration. However, four students walked away with "Superior Acting" awards, speaking to the quality of the production.

"The students gave their best performance," said assistant director Kim Macziewski. "They took all of the coaching we have given them and really performed well."

Rebekah Roth, Drew Pederson, Calvin Larson and Brooklyn Trudeau received Superior Acting awards for the drama piece, which followed students in a high school as a new student, Gossip, twisted and manipulated the truth in order to get her way.

State bids went to West Central and Lennox, who performed "The Yellow Boat" and "Whispers." State performances are today (Thursday) and tomorrow (Friday) at O'Gorman High School in Sioux Falls.

The public performance on January 22 was well-received, and director Erika Brown was appreciative of how well the students did.

"I'd like to say thank you to our community and parents for supporting the drama department," said Director Brown.
