The Tractor Ride has been an annual point of pride for the Garretson Area for years. Organizer Loren Konda told the Gazette last week that, although he hadn’t planned on doing a benefit tractor ride this year, far too many friends and regular riders had been directly affected by the recent floods for him to do nothing about it. So, this year, on August 7th, the ride will go forward with an entry fee being a free will donation. Proceeds will directly benefit the flood victims and residents of Rock Valley, Iowa.
Registration for all tractors will be at Kibble Equipment, located on Highway 11 in Garretson. Departure will be 8:30 a.m., and the ride will be 65 miles long. The route will take riders to the SWMN Christian School in Edgerton, Minnesota for lunch. Konda requests that all participants register by Aug. 2nd so that the church can have a confirmed RSVP for meal planning.
As always, any size age or color of tractor is welcome with the exception of dual wheels. All tractors must be able to safely travel up to 12 miles per hour and have the appropriate slow-moving vehicle signage mounted on the rear and easily visible. Extra riders are allowed, but only if they are properly situated on a mounted seat. Drivers are required to have a legal driver’s license and proof of insurance, and alcohol consumption is absolutely forbidden.
