O So Good is Sioux Falls Chilifest Champ!

Date:

On Thursday, October 4th, 2018 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, people from the greater Sioux Empire could spend $20 for all the Chili they could eat. Restaurateurs and Cooking enthusiasts from all over the region competed to see who could make the best chili! This was a contest sponsored by the Banquet for Project S.O.S., who distributes more than 6,000 backpacks full of supplies to students.

“It’s always fun to cook for a good cause,” said O So Good proprietor Omar Thornton. “This was a big contest with some very strong local competition. I went into it, not planning to win, just wanting to do my best. I started to get an inkling that I would win at least the People’s Choice Award when people kept coming back to my spot and casting their votes then and there at my ballot box. And then when they revealed me as the overall champion, I was deeply honored. The judges thought my recipe was the best and most unique, so I was very happy.”

If you didn’t get a chance to try Omar’s latest success, anyone in Garretson by now should know how to find him. If you’d like to contribute to Project S.O.S., you can still do so by brining donations directly to The Banquet, 900 East 8th Street, from 9:00 am to 5:00 p.m. or contacting The Banquet at 335-7066 with any questions.

O So Good is also having another Comedy Night this Friday, Oct. 12 if you need a laugh and some good eatin’.
